The National Training System was created by US National Head Coach Kisik Lee. Coach Lee is the former South Korean Olympic Coach and Australian Olympic Coach. Coach Lee developed NTS by applying principles of biomechanics, kinesiology, sports science, and sports psychology to archery.
NTS uses angular movements whereas non-NTS forms use linear movements. NTS is more efficient, leads to fewer athlete injuries and, due to its feature of addressing conscious and subconscious thought, helps prevent target panic.
Using the National Training System:
- Prevents injury by using the body’s strongest core muscles and bone structure, while reducing stress on smaller muscles and soft tissue.
- Produces a stronger and more repeatable shot with improved endurance, thanks to the reliance on bone structure, more capable muscles and reduced aiming time.
- Provides a clear, step-by-step process that helps archers and coaches to identify specific form flaws and communicate about them more effectively.
- Gives archers a repeatable set of steps that helps them to develop mental and physical consistency, whether relaxed or under tournament pressure.
- Improved shot execution maximizes the equipment’s potential, producing more consistent results when tuning the bow and better performance.
